Safinaz Zulficar, the real name of Queen Farida, was born on 5th September 1921 and was the first wife of Farouk I, King of Egypt. She married Farouk on 20th January 1938 when she was sixteen years old. Their wedding was a happy historic event, not seen in Egypt for many generations. There was great rejoicing among the people of all sects and classes ahead of the wedding ceremony and for several days later. Many delegations headed to Cairo for the event, until hotels and streets were completely full. This stamp was issued on the occasion of that marriage.
