King Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud clearly realized the strategic importance of Egyptian - Saudi relations and publicly stated that “Egypt is indispensable for Arabs and Arabs are indispensable for Egypt." Since the late king began building the modern Saudi state in 1902, he favored a strong relationship with Egypt.

In 1926 (1355 AH), a Friendship Treaty was concluded between the two countries and a Convention of Reconstruction in Riyadh was signed in 1939 (1308 AH) whereby Egypt accomplished some reconstruction projects in the Kingdom. Egypt and the Saudi Kingdom had a major role in signing the Charter of the Arab League. The visit of King Abdel Aziz to Egypt provided strong momentum to the relations between the two countries.

The Kingdom supported the national demands of Egypt in the evacuation of British forces from Egyptian territories. She stood by its side in the Arab League, the United Nations and all international circles. On 27th October 1955, Saudi Arabia signed a joint defense agreement between the two countries. The Kingdom has stood strongly by the side of Egypt in all political, economic and military fields. On 27th August 1956, she provided Egypt with $100 million after the U.S. withdrew its offer to build the High Dam. On 30th October, the Kingdom announced the general mobilization of soldiers to confront the tripartite aggression against Egypt in 1956
