1963 – 11th Anniversary of the Revolution and to Publicize Arab Socialist Union

The Arab Socialist Union was an Egyptian political party formed by President Gamal Abdel Nasser on 4 July 1962 as a unifying organization to lead political life in Egypt. It came as an alternative to the National Union, which was later dissolved in 1978. Resolution No. 1 of 1962 was issued by the Arab Socialist Union.

The Arab Socialist Union Law stipulated that this organization was "…the socialist vanguard that leads the masses, expresses their will, directs the national action, and effectively monitors its progress and proper course under the principles of the Charter." The Federation may be staff members and associate members. Associate members may become active members (working members are entitled to stand at all levels while the election is a right for all remaining members).
