1962 – Second World Meteorological Day

The world celebrates this day in commemoration of the first World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Convention on 23 March 1950. Meteorology is concerned with studying the earth’s atmosphere based on atmospheric conditions.

It includes a group of scientific disciplines that study climate and weather forecasts. The nineteenth century witnessed a rapid development in meteorology after the establishment of weather monitoring networks (meteorological stations) in many countries, while in the last half of the twentieth century great progress has been made in weather forecasting after the development of the computer.
