Moukhtar Museum is the first museum of Egyptian sculpture and was established in honor and commemoration of Moukhtar’s memory and appreciation of his art and nobility. The museum is located in Cairo, opposite the Egyptian Opera House. Moukhtar is the first sculptor in Egypt’s modern history to express the country's personality. He restored sculpture as a new art form in Egypt, since it had died out by the end of the Pharaonic era.
The museum contains 175 works of Moukhtar executed with various raw materials, in addition to his special tools used in sculpture, as well as rare documents and pictures of the most important awards and decorations he received. The museum has been reopened in a new format after its renovation to comply with the latest museum presentation systems.
