1959 – First Arab Petroleum Congress

The first Petroleum Arab Conference was held in Cairo in 1959. the delegations of petroleum exporting countries participating in the conference  work, either working Arab members or  observing non-Arab members, the idea of ​​establishing the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Organization

Objectives:

Coordinating among the members, unifying petroleum policies, and securing  fair  price for both producers and consumers in order to achieve stability and balance in the oil markets, ensure oil flow sustainability for consuming countries with economic rates, and ensure a fair return on capital to those investing in the petroleum industry. The Organization secretariat promotes them to achieve this goal with the leadership of the Secretary-General and with the participation of the economic committee and triple ministerial committee concerned with observing the market situations and the roduction quotas.
