1957 – Afro-Asian People's Conference

A founding constitution was established for the first African-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization with the participation of 55 states from Asia and Africa. The Organization aimed at unifying and coordinating the struggle of the peoples of the two continents against the remnants of colonial empires for political and economic independence and for ensuring full sovereignty over their lands and resources.

As a result, the Association of Asian and African Writers was established and its first conference was held in Tashkent in 1958.
